Is cola intrinsically bad for you? The key ingredients for a cola are caffeine, phosphoric acid and a whole lot of sugar (we’re not talking about diet drinks here, which have their own problems. Without the high levels of sugar, most colas lose their taste (think about what they taste like after the ice in the cup melts).

Finally, there’s the caffeine issue. Our philosophy is that if you’re looking for a caffeine boost, go with almost-zero-calorie coffee or tea - it can be enjoyed hot or chilled and tastes better than all those artificially sweetened diet drinks. Soft drinks are supposed to quench your thirst, but when they contain caffeine it’s counter productive because caffeine triggers your body to lose water. Smart Soda actually helps hydrate your body, it has no caffeine.

Vivi Smart Soda is formulated in a way that tastes much better when there is less sugar - in fact, Vivi uses almost half the amount of sugar as most cola to get its great taste. Another problem with most cola is the rampant use of High Fructose Corn Syrup. Vivi Smart Soda uses natural evaporated cane juice, not high fructose corn syrup.

And finally, phosphoric acid. It’s one of the ingredients that makes cola what it is. it provides a distinctive taste, however it’s controversial because scientific studies have linked it to lower bone density. Vivi Smart Soda only uses natural acidulents like citric acid (which makes lemons sour) and malic acid (which makes apples tangy).

Cola may taste good, and enjoying it once in a while certainly won’t be that bad for you - but for a beverage you’re going to be consuming on a regular basis, it’s probably not the best choice. Vivi Smart Soda is an excellent alternative if you like carbonated beverages but don’t like how many calories and controversial ingredients they contain.

There are other coarbonated soft drinks which have opted to use real sugar, but none of these are offered in 20OZ PET bottles, so they really can’t compete with the big soft drinks. Vivi Smart Soda is not only in a unique bottle for a new age beverage, but it also contains acai berry and vitamin B12. With only 60 calories per 8 ounce serving (almost half that of the big soft drinks), Vivi has all the ingredients for a great consumer recpetion.

It’s the fructose. The July 2008 issue of the Journal of Nutrition showed how fructose was quickly converted to fat in the liver, whereas other sugars were more readily used by the body shortly after they are consumed - they give you an energy boost.

The Corn Industry has spent millions of dollars trying to make High Fructose Corn Syrup look good - but pay attention to the facts. Next time someone asks you what’s so bad about HFCS, you can tell them that fructose is more readily converted to fat than other sugars.

Vivi Smart Soda has natural cane sugar as a sweetener instead of High Fructose Corn Syrup.

Diet drinks don’t have any calories (well, technically they have some, but it’s usually under 1) so most people assume they are a great choice for dieting - no more calories than water but with a fun and exciting taste. Sounds great, right? Unfortunately the issue isn’t that simple. ’Diet drinks’ contain artificial sweeteners that are hundreds of times sweeter than sugar, so they can sweeten a drink in small amounts and not add calories to it. When you consume these drinks, blood sugar level isn’t affected. This gets your brain all confused - it begins to associate the taste of sweet with low calorie. This has been shown in scientific studies to lead to overeating of sweet foods that do have calories in them. The diet drink itself may not have significant calories in it, however you’ll usually end up consuming more calories in the long run. Water is always a safe option, but if you want something fun, natural and healthy give Vivi Smart Soda a try.

High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) has found its way into an alarming number of foods and beverages. Of course, the corn industry profits from its sale, so they’ve launched a campaign to fool consumers into thinking its perfectly healthy.High fructose corn syrup is a mix of fructose and glucose obtained through the enzymatic transformation of corn starch to a syrupy mix of fructose (later mixed with the glucose). We haven’t been studying the begative effects of HFCS for too long, but research is showing that it is more readily transformed to fat in the liver than natural sugar - it can lead to a ‘fatty liver,’ the same kind that is seen with alcoholics.Additionally, tests in lab animals have shown that high fructose corn syrup may be more likely to cause diabetes than natural sugar.High Fructose Corn Syrup was invented in Japan in the 1970s, so it hasn’t been around too long - it’s use has really become prolific since the 1990s. What does this mean? It means that we have only begun to see the long term effects of HFCS overconsumption. Humans have been consuming natural sugar for thousands of years we know just about everything there is to know about it. Is High Fructose Cron Syrup okay in moderation? Probably, yeah. But what is moderation? High Fructose Corn Syrup is in so many products nowadays that most people consume it in large doses many times daily. In fact, High Fructose Corn Syrup is now the largerst source of caloric intake in the USA - that’s not moderation.Besides, HFCS tastes bad - it has a ’sticky sweet’ aftertaste. Natural sugar has a much cleaner and more satisfying taste.

A lot of soft drink advertising is aimed at kids, but should children be exposed to high calorie soda with questionable ingredients? Is cola okay for kids in moderation?

In moderation, it might not be that bad to drink the occasional cola - the problem occurrs when moderation becomes habit. Some people drink cola every day, or at least a few days every week; any dietician will tell you this is unhealthy.

Vivi Smart Soda is one solution to the high calorie artificial sodas and cola that flood the convenience store shelves. Since Vivi is 100% natural (sweetened by real cane juice instead of high fructose corn syrup) and it contains beneficial ingredients like viamin B12 and antioxidants from real acai berry extract, it’s something you can give to your kids and feel good about.

The truth is that a cola here and there (once a month or so) isn’t all that bad - but with sugary soda being ubiquitous in our society, it’s very easy for cola consumption to become a bad habit. The advantage of Vivi Smart Soda is that it has the great taste along with the healthy ingredients - now you can have these both.

Also known as BVO, Brominated vegetable oil can be found in many citrus drinks like Mountain Dew and Squirt. This stuff is banned in over 100 countries around the world, but not the USA. The bromine can stay in your body for decades after consumption, and if you have too much it’s possible to develop a disease called Bromism.

Although you have to be drinking liters a day to get brominism from these BVO-containing soft drinks, the symptoms are very serious and include psychological and neurological symptoms. Vivi Smart Soda is 100% natural and contains no brominated vegetable oil. Remember, just because somehthing’s for sale in the convenience store doesn’t mean it’s necessarily healthy or safe for you to consume, or overconsume (cigarettes, alcohol, cola, etc.)
